I sat down with a young man this week who shared his encouraging story of working with his Pastor to discover what his Father Wound is, specifically. Once he was able to articulate it, he began the hard work of pursuing his Dad.
It started out rough. He was fighting to get his Dad to agree to start reading a book together, that they would later agree to meet weekly to talk about. Dad reluctantly agreed. The initial conversations were 30-40 minutes of awkward talk, but then something flipped.
All of a sudden, the conversations changed. What was 30-40 minutes of stress each week became an hour and a half of bliss. His Dad started to engage and enjoyed the talks he was having with his son. Then, in a mark of true blessing, his Dad started to lead his family differently. I can’t say for sure the two were connected, but significant change in family doesn’t come out of nowhere. This was an act of God.
The takeaway this week is that sometimes things look glum like nothing will ever improve, but because of the hard work you put in, and the Lord’s love for your situation, things can change and become something new. This Newsletter is meant to give you hope. I trust this story will.
I look forward to writing to you again next week! Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!
